Competition Terms and Conditions
By entering the #SmartIsTheNewCool competition, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1 Entry is open to all learners in South Africa using Tswelopele and Woza Matrics curriculum resources as broadcast on SABC 1, DSTV Catch Up, DBEtv on OVHD Channel 122, YouTube, website or other online or mobile platforms and who follow Tswelopele and/or Woza Matrics accounts on Facebook in South Africa (hereafter ‘eligible entrant’).
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The competition commences on 17th May 2021 at 09h00 and ends on 31st July 2021 at 17h00.
3.2 In order to enter, eligible entrants must follow and remain a follower of the Tswelopele or Woza Matrics Facebook pages during the duration of the competition.
3.3 Qualifying entrants will have to engage with Tswelopele or Woza Matrics competition posts between 09h00 and 17h00 on (days of the week) for their try to qualify for the weekly draw.
3.4 NECT will randomly select the one (1) weekly winner for Tswelopele and one (1) weekly winner for Woza Matrics on every (Monday to Friday) from all eligible entries which meet the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions.
3.5 Entrants are allowed one valid entry of answering a competition question per week. If selected as a winner entrants are no longer eligible to submit entries for the duration of the competition.
3.6 If selected as a winner, entrants must send requested contact details within one week of being contacted by the Tswelopele or Woza Matrics team(s).
3.7 All the information provided or related to this competition shall be captured by a NECT approved service provider (KillaaBee) for the purposes of running the competition only.
3.8 Only entries received during the Competition period as stipulated in clause 2.1 above will qualify as potential winners.
3.9 The competition is only open to natural persons. Entries received from business accounts held by legal persons (amongst others, Corporates and SMEs, etc.) are excluded from participating and winning in the competition.
3.10 There are no additional charges for participating in the competition. Standard data costs apply as per the user’s existing tariff plan for data use.
3.11 The judges’ decision on any aspect of the competition including the allocation of the prizes will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
3.12 Neither NECT nor any other person or party associated with the competition, their associated contractors and sponsors and any of its staff involved in the competition shall be liable for any costs incurred by the winner for entering the competition or in claiming a prize.
3.13 All risks and ownership of the prizes shall pass to the winners on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all of NECT’s, or any other person’s or party’s associated with the competition, obligations in regard to the competition as well as in regard to the prizes shall terminate. The winners will be advised on arrangements in respect of delivery when they are notified that they have won.
4.1 There will be one (1) prize draw and one (1) winner for Tswelopele and one (1) winner for Woza Matrics every week from 10th May to 31st July 2021. The winners will each receive 2 GIG of mobile data (all mobile networks).
4.2 The NECT will contact the winners during working hours (08h00 to 17h00) by phone on or after the date of the weekly draw, using the cell phone number provided in response to the Direct Message on Facebook.
4.3 The winner is not required to be present at the time of the draw. The prize will be sent to the winner’s cell phone number as provided on their entry form within one (1) week of the draw date.
4.4 Each winner must be able to identify themselves in a manner determined by NECT as the entrant of the competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure (determined by NECT) in order to claim the prize.
4.5 NECT reserves the right to withhold any prize until it is satisfied that the claim by the winner is valid.
4.6 The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and may not be redeemed for cash.
4.7 Employees, directors and agents of NECT, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the devising, production, management or marketing of this competition are not eligible to participate and win in this competition.
4.8 In participating in the prize, the winner agrees to participate and co-operate as required in any marketing activities relating to the competition. The winner agrees to grant the NECT a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
5. NO LIABILITY
5.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the NECT’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the NECT may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions.
6.2 NECT and associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected.
6.3 NECT and associated agencies will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss or claim that may occur:
- while undertaking any activity in or connected with their entry into the draw;
- in the participation in any prize;
- as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected calls;
- due to the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compare, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;
- in relation to failure of an entry to be received by the promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion;
- arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any cell phone, software, internet connection, any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s cell phone software related to or resulting from participation in this competition.
6.4 NECT assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.5 If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
